ASC SPECIFICATION FOR EVENTS AND CONVERSIONS

The Automotive Standards Council (ASC) was created in early 2022 to establish industry guidelines for implementing Google Analytics 4 (GA4) events. Spearheaded by Brian Pasch, the ASC includes vendors, influential dealers, and manufacturers.

The goal?

Avoid the fragmented status quo from the Universal Analytics era. The ASC specification for GA4 events and conversions (now called key events), delivers rich standards specifically built for the automotive sector. These standards facilitate much deeper reporting, through the use of event parameters unique to GA4 and ASC.

Ensuring continuity

The standards also ensure that when the dealership moves from one digital marketing provider to another, as long as those providers are ASC-certified, the analytics tracking continues, without any work required from the dealer.

Our approach?

We embrace the ASC standards, as they support our consistent approach, and allow our dealers flexibility in switching vendors. We build out the GA4 events and conversion events (key events) for dealership websites, using the ASC standards. Or, we can train staff at the dealership or group, to build these ASC events and key events themselves.
